Aston Martin Racing confirmed recently the two teams who will be representing the British marque in the new FIA GT3 Championship in 2006. These teams are BMS, Aston Martin Racing's Works team in the 2006 FIA GT Championship, and Barwell Motorsport, former British Touring Car Championship Production Class winners. James Turner, Commercial Director of Aston Martin Racing, commented, "We're delighted to develop our relationship with BMS and to welcome Barwell to working with us. I am sure that the new championship will be a great sportscar series and the DBRS9 should be a strong competitor within it."
Tiziano Minuti, Team Manager of BMS, confirmed, "It is a great pleasure to be working so closely with Aston Martin and Aston Martin Racing and we have numerous projects to work on together. We look forward to confirming some exciting drivers for the Championship."
Mark Lemmer of Barwell, concluded, "We've been looking for an international project for some time and this is a natural step for us. We already have three great drivers signed up, of our six, and are in discussion with other interested parties. We are hungry for more success and keen to establish ourselves in the international GT racing arena."
The Aston Martin DBRS9 will be undertaking the first comparative tests against its rivals at Paul Ricard in France on Saturday 3 December.
